I have now posted eight songs I’ve written for/about Sean (and Clio) on this blog. I’d like to put them in a side-bar for ease of reference, but that isn’t possible, so I’ll list them here. The lyrics are supplied in each post, and you can click on a link to hear a recording. I intend to make more ‘professional’ recordings of at least some of the songs.
The posts are as follows:
Devil’s Bit
Lament for Sean O’Brien
Sean and Clio in the Snow
Come Back and See Me
7021 Days
All We Had
Love Remains/Losing You
Hello Brendan … thank you for these links.
They are beautiful, elegiac songs of love and remembrance .. and through them Sean will live in the hearts of even those like me who didn’t have the pleasure of knowing him.
Marya x
Hello Marya … thank you very much!
I think there are plenty more songs where those came from … wherever that may be!
From the heart and soul, Brendan ..
Brendano, over the next few days I will work on an accompaniment for All We Had. I do so much like this song – it is like strumming a chord of pure love, except that my accompaniment will be more arpeggio or a running counter-point. The words are so tender, so resplendent of the love between you and your son. As I have said before I could ‘hear’ this song performed in many arenas – the reflection and re-affirmation of the love between a father and son, in the circumstances where there has been a loss.
Once I am happy with what I have done, I will score it and send it to you via e-mail attachment. And in another year or time I will play it in front of you, so long as there is a drink nearby!
That sounds great, PG … I very much look forward to hearing it, and I’m glad you like the song. I haven’t sung it in public yet, but may do so over Easter.
The drink will not be a problem. 🙂
Easter will be my target date for completed transcription!
