The people that ran the pancake sale yesterday put up a board with enlarged photos of Sean, and a brief biography for the benefit of anyone that didn’t know him. The biography was as follows.
SEAN O’BRIEN
Sean was born in Dublin on 28 July 1991. With his parents and his sister Susanna, he moved to Munterconnaught in August 1998, where he attended Knocktemple National School.
Later Sean attended Virginia College, where he did his Leaving Cert in 2008 while still just 16. He did two years of a web and multimedia course at Cavan Institute, and had been offered a place at DCU for the 2011/2012 academic year, which he was planning to take up.
Sean loved music – especially Bob Marley – and sport. He was a very good photographer.
He played Gaelic football for Knocktemple NS, for Munterconnaught GFC from under-12 to minor levels, and for Virginia College. He also played soccer for Virginia College, and rugby (his favourite sport) for the Virginia and Cavan clubs, as well as Cavan/Fermanagh teams. He was a fan of Munster rugby, and of Arsenal.
Sean was an exceptionally friendly, outgoing and sociable person who made friends everywhere he went. Sadly, he died suddenly, at home, in the early hours of 17 October 2010, at the age of 19.
He is greatly missed by his family, girlfriend, friends, and the Munterconnaught community.
